those who own budgett's frogs...?

ginevive Feb 21, 2004 04:52 PM

Would you recommend getting one? I just saw them at a local pet shop, and have never owned or even seen one before.
Are they very hard to keep? Is their upkeep similar to that of african claweds? I am just looking for input from you guys who own or have owned them.

I did a bit of research and found out that no, they are not housed in water like acfs. Sorry for my ignorance!

i think that they are more difficult to keep compard to horned frogs, pyxies and others. andy has a lot of good information and look back in the past threads as there have been a ton of question (including mine).

Hi

I am the owner of a captive-bred Budgett's frog. He came from a litter of about 20. They are not that all hard to take care of. I keep him in a 10-gallon, using sand as a substrate. The water should be slightly over their back. I float spagnum and Spanish moss on one end of the vivarium, and put a big piece of cork and some rocks in with him to hide under. Then ther's the plants and everything. Watch out- they will bite! Feel free to ask other questions- I also keep an African bullfrog, green treefrogs, a White's tree frog, and much more! I also keep caecilians and snakes etc.
