Albino Question & Sexing Question

theincubus1 Jun 09, 2003 03:11 PM

Hello. I have two very dumb but quick questions. First is...can anyone tell me where I an find the cheapest Albino ball python? See, Yesterday was my B-Day and I got nothin but money so I want to buy a Albino but all the ones I have found are extremely expensive but see I want the cheapest one I can find but they are all around 400 dollars. All I got was 250 dollars. Is that around the cheapest price I will find them? But again, can anyone help me by telling me where I can find the cheapest albino ball pythons? If anyone wants to sell their albino for around that price that would be make me very grateful and I would be really happy. But again please help me because knowing me I would get tempted to buy something else and blow all my money away. My last question is can anyone show me a pic of how you can tell a female from a male? I went to go get my ball probed when I bought him from the guy that sold it to me. He told me it was a male but there was something about him that made me not trust his answer. I dont know what it was but there was someone in me telling me not to trust him. Ever had one of those feelings? Anyway, yeah I just did not trust his answer and I do not know if their are any snakes shows or something coming where I can get him probed and I dont think any vets around my area that exam snakes. Yeah so can anyone post a pic of the difference between a male and a female because I was told by somebody that you can tell the difference by something on the tail by where the poop comes out of. If this is not true then just tell me. But yeah those are my long, idiotic, dumb questions and I was wondering if someone could please help me out? Thanx for all your time!

Whoa!! Did you get a case of Jolt Cola too???

To your first question. If you can find an albino BP for $400, buy as many as you can. The albino BP averages around $3,500.

Your second question. Find someone experienced to show you how to "pop" (if very young) or probe your BP. Be very careful with both procedures. You don't want to injur the animal.

$2000 for an albino ball?! You should buy as many as you can, because I've never seen them from a REPUTABLE breeder for under $3000.

ballboutique Jun 09, 2003 06:37 PM

JY bought one for $2,000.00 at Daytona last summer. His albino is on his website: http://www.jyreptiles.com.
An albino is an albino. He seems to like his albino.

So ONE guy bought ONE albino Ball Python for $2,000 and now that's the going rate? Doubt it.

I've bought a TON of snakes that people were desperate to get rid of for like 10% of market value, but that did not change the market value itself.

jyohe Jun 09, 2003 08:36 PM

it's what you know and a little who you know

you'd really cry if you see what we sell stuff for...and buy for...name a morph or snake....LOL...

saw albino ruthveni...@30.....pastels@700......albinos @1200....hets @600 or less...het ghosts @ 300pr....amel corns @5 10 years ago..lavender corns @50 10 years ago...jungle carpets @25....BRB@35.....dumerili@50 -.....balls @3....boas @10....albino burms @15....and on and on......

wholesale...you have to buy alot or know someone ...yes....and these are not always the case...sometimes it's a once and done deal....

"market value"is one price..."internet" value is more than that...and reality value is alot less....we deal wholesale...less than reality.......

......anyways......

.....this year ...2000 for an albino....way too easy to get....

good luck....

at $3000 I can get you all you want and make a whole lotta money

yep....

hey ,,I know someone who knows someone that can get them for ALOT less than the $2g.....you'd scream..(and take out a bank loan)......want some...LOL..@$1500 each for 10???

....I am not selling...just giving you people an idea of what you can get stuff for if you don't run out and grab the first one you see.....

as for het females...you'd probably pay >???$600 for females...males....LOL.>$100....and that's way too much...

(this is $2000...BHB enterprises....yep....)2002male

ballboutique Jun 09, 2003 08:37 PM

You want to get them and make the $500.00 each at $2,000.00? We each make $2,500.00. Nope just sell 4 each and keep one each. Sounds good to me. What a team. But we both know that!

Some of my best friends are ball python breeders

more fun to just watch these people buy them for $3G and then laugh at them later....really....If I/we buy them...they still go and pay too much at the wrong places...you know that...they always do....I've known that for years and years...that's why I wholesale to the bigger breeders/dealers....and let them deal with the public....

......yep

......

ballboutique Jun 09, 2003 09:05 PM

I just did not like the person who offered that deal.

Yeah, well I know a guy, who's cousins roommates father's sister's high school gym teacher.................= six degrees of crappy ball python genetics, at $2,000 or $20. I'd much rather pay "market value" and get the snake directly from the breeder, that way, it's health, genetics, and anything else that might be questionable, can be answered FIRST HAND.

ballboutique Jun 12, 2003 01:21 PM

Interesting.
Look if you feel better paying $3,500.00 for an albino verses $2,000.00 go for it. But a smart shopper puts another $500.00 and gets a pair. And there are many small breeders who supported the big breeders and now they want a return on their investment.
I had a big breeder wanting to by my babies for resale. So in real life you will pay the markup of an animal some one else has produced.
I had an offer for 10 albinos for $15,000.00. Why you ask? They do not have to be concerned with selling each animal. Would you say that $20,000.00 is a nice return on your investment?
What counts is how you feel comfortable in your purchase.

>albinos are not 400$ Nor $3500
>
>they are about/// $2000

Oh really??? Perhaps you can explain this:
REALLY EXPENSIVE ALBINO

ballpythonfan Jun 09, 2003 06:52 PM

3 reasons why it is that price..

1)It was a high contrast albino as in very pretty colors.
2)It was a yearling.
3)It included a 100% het mate with it.

sparke303 Jun 09, 2003 06:58 PM

So, then how much is the albino priced? If it were $2K, that would make the het's price $2500. Of course, the ad says he is throwing in the het FOR FREE...that would make the albino $4500. Either way, my point was that $2000 is a less-than-reliable figure to count on buying an albino for...plan on between $1500 (at competitive times) and $4000 (for the best examples)

Josh06 Jun 09, 2003 07:20 PM

Not everyone sells at the exact same price at all times. Prices vary...

Forgot. I had a well known breeder offer to buy my animals at half of what they were selling them for. My question is what animal would you get the breeders, mine, or who knows?

ballpythonfan Jun 10, 2003 07:01 PM

Well people want to sell at different places just because you see the ad dosnt mean you have to buy it plus there is no suck thing as free in the python business.

ballpythonfan Jun 10, 2003 07:02 PM

oops no such thing as free.

sparke303 Jun 11, 2003 05:54 PM

No such thing as free????? You're crazy! I just got a free Zoo-Med paperweight that came with a heat rock...wait a minute, the heat rock IS the paperweight! Maybe you're right

ballboutique Jun 09, 2003 06:54 PM

I can post any animal for any price I wish. If I get 1.2 million for an albino I made a lot of money. But how long will one wait to get that much money? Just watch as albinos hatch. Some one wanted to sell me 10 for $15,000.00! Watch, wait.

Price elasticity.

Everything fluctuates in price. Reptiles are no different. Come July, at the Daytona show, you will be able to pick up just about anything you want for less than "normal" prices. Later, the prices will rebound.

ballboutique Jun 09, 2003 07:58 PM

Perhaps your correct. But I think you can get them for under 2k @ Daytona.

jmartin104 Jun 09, 2003 08:13 PM

I have never seen them that low at Daytona or any other show. But that does not mean you cannot pick them up cheap - but don't count on finding them (albino or otherwise) to be cheap. Market value means market value. Not, "I hope to get, but I'll really settle for 50%".

ballboutique Jun 09, 2003 08:27 PM

OK OK OK You walk up to a table at Daytona. You see an animal you like. You see price $3,500.00. You pull out 20 $100.00 bills place on the table the vendor says no! You go to the next vendor. Same thing! JY did it and bought one! This is the one he bought! I know he would never LIE to me! I like the animal.
Now that is high contrast.

see folks------you too can get an albino cheap!!!!
all you have to do is go to every vendor selling them and cry that you only have x amount of dollars and if you bug them long enough they will sell it to you just to get rid of you!!!
that albino was offered to me for $1500 but I wanted a better looking one-----to each his own I gess.

ballboutique Jun 10, 2003 06:57 AM

I think JY's is a nice high contrast albino. Worth every tear he shed at the vender's table. Could you show us what you bought with out tears? Let the folks decide on who received the better deal. Also include the price you paid and who you purchased it from.

Life is just great!!!! Another day of sunsine

I did post where I got them from so you can say yea...this is the guy I went to...

but how did you know which he sold me? there was more than one in the case.......?

and cry?...not me...I went around halfway bored at Daytona for 2 days...asked everyone I saw with amels once about selling me one for $1500 actually...then I would say...ok $2G???...they all said...""naaaaaah,,,this is the last one (or 2 or 3 ) I have...I can't ...

I did bug one man alot...he came to Daytona with 10 at least...and he traded a bunch of them and sold a couple maybe...he wouldn't go $1500....

so...I knew I could get one from Bell....but BHB was on the way there...last trip down isle...so I asked Brian Barcyck..for the first time all weekend....and he says...yea...I can do that for you...

tadaaa...not one little tear.....

there are a few people that wanted to sell me one ...but they wouldn't talk straight up deals...they bullchit their way around...and they lost...

...right...

so....anyways....this thread now sux....infiltrated by rebels?....so...I am off........LOL

having fun?....miss me?

JYReptiles

jyohe Jun 09, 2003 08:46 PM

at the Daytona show...the only deals were amongst each other(breeders)...to the public...they didn't cut prices...they actually thought they could get MORE for animals because there are alot of "reptile" people aroind...and all looking to buy...

trust me...Daytona is NOT the sell for less spot...(except breeder to breeder)...(they deal with each other all day long and acually don't talk to the cutomers much ...)...sad...

.....you can do well if you get to know some less known breeders ,in your area even...they have the same stuff...they live closer...and you can always drive to their home and talk or ask what went wrong if you kill it...LOL

really...most of my best animals came from "NOT known breeders...they are very good...very smart,,,,they've been around reptiles longer than the average kid on this forum has been alive...and you've never heard of any of them....
you see them at shows and walk right on by...they have good stuff and never advertise or talk in here....YET you may have gotten their animals...?...yep...you buy from the breeders you know...and the breeders buy from the little guys...trust me....

anyways....good luck...shop around...and pay foir GOOD cages FIRST!!!!!!!!! and find a food source....and learn ALOT then learn again...

Recent prices:

NERD - $3,500
VPI - $3,500
CV Exotics - $2,600
Jason's Jungle - $3,400
D & M Breeders - $ 3,500
Millenium Morphs $5,000 (includes sub-adult 100% het female which would sell for no more than $1,500 which makes the snake $3,500)

You do the math - $ 3,500 is closer than $2,000.

jyohe Jun 09, 2003 08:53 PM

"these are advertised prices"

do math...if you put them out at$3G and some people are gonna just send you $3G...?...are you going to argue?...

nope

.......so?

you going to send them the $3G? or call them and say"I have $2G...take it or leave it"...

they take it....

......(again...you mentioned the names on here...go off the internet to shop....)

too bad Wal-Mart doesn't deal in ball pythons...the market would be a whole different place....
