Is it safe? I don't see why not. But, is it humane? No. Unless they are packaged like that for shipping, it is NOT right. I honestly do not see how they can meet all of a gecko's requirements in a small "cup". Leos need to be in at least a 10 gallon. I have come across people who say that is too small. I, personally, agree that they need a 15 gallon tank. You're probably saying "Wow a whole 5 gallons bigger!", but I measured it against my 20 gallon long tank and it was only about 4 inches shorter. It was about 1.5 inches wider!! Another point why I don't agree with that is, unless they move them to another container, how do they feed the leos? Poor things! They need room!! Whoa, I just wrote a whole lot. Sorry, I know you weren't asking for a response so long and opinionated, but my heart goes out to anything alive. (I rescued a pinky mouse from death!(My gecko wouldn't eat it. Too big)It's on baby formula.) O, well, that's another post!! :D

I'm sure they dont actually house them in the deli cups. It's a pic of the geckos for sale, looks like at a table of a show. BUT, the cups look WAY too small, as if they are squished and dont have any room to move! The cups should definately be a little bigger for them in my opinion!

That is so cruel. How do they breathe, thermoregulate, move, eat, and be happy in those? Get in touch with the person and ask why they are in little petri dishes.

That is good for shipping... If given too much room they will bounce around in shipping and injure themselves/lose tail

But for anything else, hell no.

When Leopard Geckos get shipped or transported anywhere, they should be in a container that will not allow them to be tossed around and become injured. Most breeders use these large deli cups (they have air holes) when they display them at Reptile Expos. It is virtually impossible to transport 100's of geckos to and from the shows in larger containers, and many times we have to ship them to ourselves at hotels where we stay during the shows.

When I am a vendor at reptile shows (and I can speak for many other breeders), my geckos are only on display for about 6 hours, and are kept warm with heat pads in between. Also, many of us have display cabinets with heaters that these deli cups fit into during the show. If it is a local show that I can drive to, my geckos are put back into their enclosures for the night. So, usually the longest they are allowed to be kept in these deli cups is for the duration of the show only.

If anyone can come up with a better, cheaper, or safer idea on how we can ship and display 100 geckos on an 8-foot table at a reptile expo, by all means let us know!
