>>even though the auratus are shy, are they still fairly active. at least enough to where i can watch them. they are one of my favorites, and i hear that they rarely ever have problems. so i guess what i am trying to say is that are people who have auratus happy with them?
I'm very happy with my auratus. They are active, and very prolific. They are hawaiians, and i only have a pair now-- i sold off the ones i didn't need. They laid a clutch on a bromeliad leaf a couple of weeks back, and this morning i looked in the tank and my male had a tadpole on his back. very cool. I have like 30 some odd tadpoles, 11 froglets, and about 20 eggs. I started with auratus, but leuc's are great frogs too. Azureus are cheap enough to buy now also-- i remember a time when they were 125 each for a froglet! So keep on researching and decide which kind you like best! Don't go for the gold right now either haha!
