feeding question .............kinda long

rttlrvenom Feb 22, 2004 09:25 AM

i know this question has been asked before but im gonna ask it anyways.

My two 03 corns are about 16-20 inches and are really good eaters they love there pinkies and have never refused a meal for me. The one regurged once but that was because of a technical problem with the UTH.
My question is do you think if i fed them both an (1) anole just like a few times a year would they switch over to anole and not eat pinkies/or fuzzies. When i say a few times a year i mean mabe 3-4 times at the most.
Also would this be safe to do, is there any way an anol could injure my little corns or give them some kind of bacteria/fungal/worm any other kind of infection.

thanx
Rv

p.s. the only reason i want to do this is to supplement there diet. If there is any other things i could use to supplement there diet could you please share it with me.

I don't really see the need in doing this. The mice will be sufficient. There is a chance that they won't even eat the anoles after being on mice and there is also a chance that they may decide they like the anoles better then the mice and refuse mice. I had used an anole's tail for scenting pinkies for a couple of problem feeders and instead of killing the anole I thought I would throw it in one of my aquariums with an adult corn. The anole lived for three months before I actually needed to use it for a friend's feeder problem.
There is no need for supplementation. More and more of the foods provided for mice are nutritionaly sound so when you have healthy mice you have healthy snakes.

thanx for the responce draybar. i see your point and since i got my pinkies from rodent pro i assume there of top quality so there would be no need to supplement.

Although I have had a little trouble with RodentPro, yes I believe they should be adequate. I still have about 90 RodentPro weanlings in the freezer and I am not concerned about the need for additional supplementation while using them up. I have switched to Big Cheese but that is just my personal preference.
good luck
