New leopard gecko advise.

newkid Feb 22, 2004 09:31 AM

I just aquired my first juvenile leopard gecko and am left with a couple questions. First question is, I have Leopard Gecko Dust which is a superfood made by T-rex. This seems to have a D activated animal steril which is a form of D-3. Is this safe to leave in a bowl? I have read that the leopard gecko can overdose on pure D-3.

Second question is regarding heat. I have an undertank heater which is maintaining 85 degrees on the substrate surface on one side of the tank. I also use a 75 watt day light on warm side of the tank during the day hours to keep the above gravel temp. between 85 and 88. Things I am reading are contradicting as in the under tank heater is suffecient heat, no heat light needed other than for sense of day and night. Or they need undertank heater and above tank heat as well to 85 to 88 degrees. Im confused which I use or both?

you can use the leopard gecko dust in a little bowl. Use the 75 watt lamp during the day and turn it off at night to provide a day night cycle.
