Substrate Question

jeff craven Feb 09, 2003 05:58 PM

I was wondering what you all use for substrates for your adult burms. I recently rescued an 11' albino burm. I initially put him on newspaper which he proceeded to trash. When he went to the bathroom he did a good job of smeering it everywhere. I decided to make the switch to aspen bedding. Does anyone else use this with their burms?

I tend to find that newspaper does not do as well with these larger snakes, but aspen works wonderfully, just be sure that when you feed that you place sheets of paper in the enclosure to prevent ingestion of the bedding, it can and will happen if not careful but will usually be passed without any trouble..

Good luck with your new acquisition
