Does anyone know what could be the problem with my turtle's eye? The person that I bought him from said that it was a fungus. Is this correct? Any advice would be helpful. Thanks

Anyone have any advice?!?
Probably not. There are three main causes for eyelid distention in turtles: (1) A primary bacterial infection (usually limited to one eye) which can be treated with triple antibiotic ointment (Neosporin is the expensive proprietary form of this cheaper generic); (2) vitamin A deficiency (most common in juveniles and always bilatteral) - feed a diet higher in vitamin A, especially commercial peparations, such as Reptomin but also collard greens etc.; (3) Respiratory infection - swelling of an area behind the eyes causes bilatteral distention - it doesn't look like this from the picture. Animal usually goes off food and is lethargic. Injectable antibiotics from a vet are manadatory for this condition.
Thank you for the advice. The condition is only in his left eye (pictured), his right eye appears to be fine. So that is good news. Again thanks!
