Egg Problems.

Dedalus Feb 22, 2004 01:11 PM

My larger female was gravid with one egg, I woke up this morning to find it ruptured in the poop corner. She looks perfectly healthy and happy but the egg was purged and broken. Just wondering if I should be worried, she was about 2 weeks pregnant.

Just keep an eye on her for signs of infection... lethargy, refusing food, etc. If the egg ruptured in her oviduct, the yolk can cause serious infection. If she pased it during defecation, perhaps it got walked on and that's what caused it to rupture.

Yeah, actually that happened to me last week. The egg casing came out one day, then the rest the next, in the poop section. She is doing excellent now, and eats like a pig. Like Marcia said, just keep an eye out.
