Cage construction for 1.2 cresteds out of 55 gallon tank?

Amanda E Feb 22, 2004 01:41 PM

I have a 55 gallon aquarium tank that I would like to separate into 3 cages; the dimensions are 48" L x 13" W x 20" H.

Essentially I would like to make 3 compartments, with two of them smaller than the third. I would separate the 3 animals into their own sections when they aren't breeding and then put the females in with the male during breeding season.

I was thinking 2 of the sections would be 15" x 13" x 20" and 1 section 18" x 13" x 20". I'm pretty sure individually these sections would be big enough for one animal, but what about when all 3 are in the larger section?

I know I could just put all 3 together in the 55 gallon tank with no separators, but I would like the option of separating them if I want to.

Thanks for any help you can give.
