Too late to get a tankmate for my female leo?

Jack31081 Feb 22, 2004 03:45 PM

I've got a female leo (pastel, about 13 months old) and I've always wanted to get a friend for her (another female...I'm not into the breeding scene).

At 13 months, is it too late to get another leo for the same tank? If I can, should she be the same age, size or both? How long should the quarantine period be for leos of this age?

Thanks for any info.

1) How big is the enclosure.
2)3 months minimum quarenteen, maybe 2 if you get a clean fecal.

You can easily get a few more adults in there. I currently have 2 adult females in my 20L (they've been together for over a year now), they have PLENTY of room to themselves.. .I've got a 3rd female in quarantine, who will be joining them shortly.. (I can't wait to introduce them )

Hey,
I don't think there is really any "too late" to get friends for your leo, from what I ahve read here, as long as there is not a big difference in size. I have a leo hat I am assuming was born in october, and I plan on getting her a friend someday, just not sure when. But I would figure that if you get a few month old leo, then have them in quarantine for 3 mont, wel by then they will be like 5-6 months old so they should be a decent size, and probly wont have problems fitting in.. as long as the tank is big enough (20 long should be great for 2 leos)... again, this is just what I gather from this forum :P
