I need some help!!!!!! I have been struggling with mites for a bout a year now and I just can’t shake them. I have them in the fruit fly cultures that I grow.
They are smaller then . They attack the maggots and then the medium. They start out white then plump up and seem to turn a light tan. Their population explodes in just a few days.
So that they don’t take over the cultures I have tried changing them out faster. I have scrubbed down the Incubator cabinet with every thing I can lay my hands on. I have tried the mite powder and mite be gone spray from the Drosophila Company but it would only get them down (not gone), and the fruit fly production dropped off big time. I have killed off all my flies and trashed all of the containers, and still they come back.
Can you offer any help, Will mites die if I freeze them or heat them to a certain temp? Can I bait, spray, powder, scrub with or any thing short of a nuclear blast? Please let me know here or Email me at ilookonest@yahoo.com
