Snow boas, why so pricey still IF boas are such prolific breeders???

viper69 Feb 22, 2004 07:00 PM

Just curious..I remember how albinos boas were very expensive..and then they dropped in price quite a bit I think..But these Snow boas seem to be keeping price..How come??? Esp, since the species drops a lot of eggs..unlike ball pythons.

Just curious. Thanks

Snow boas are still fairly uncommon, at least less common than an albino boa, and not a lot of people are producing them. And another thing, most boas don't lay eggs, an exception would be the kenyan sand boa.

Kenyan sand boas are live bearers. Among the sand boas only the Mueller's and the Arabians lay eggs.

why aren't a lot of people producing them?

People seem to be producing everything else in boa morphs?

I think the main reason alot of people are not producing them is the fact that odds of getting a snow in a double het for snow to double het for snow breeding are 1 in 16, so most litters only have 1 or 2 if any...

You never experience life until you have kids..then you realize what you should have done rather then what you did do

People are also interested in boas that have neat colors and/or pattern. A snow boa, as we know, is a white boa. Not a very exciting boa to look at, although I agree they are different. Virtually has no pattern to admire, etc.
