I wish the people in the lower post read this one. Anyway, we need info. Temps, cage size, age, any nesting boxes, if so what substrate is in them, how long have they been together, were they brumated, what were brumation temps, how long have you had them, are they malis, and do you have everything ready such as incubator, individual hatchling cages, separate cage if the pair gets agressive, are they WC, if so have they been wormed, how long have they been in captivity, and most importantly are they healthy. What have you tried that didn't work. Also most importantly, you cant "make" them breed, even if you have everything right, they just might not want to breed. But if you do have everything right then that encourages them to breed. Good luck.

thanks for the response.I will try to narrow down my questions! I got eggs last year unfortunately I lost them all in incubation.I'm having more trouble this time. Will Malis lay eggs whether they are fertilized or not? Is it better to introduce the female to the male or vice versa. I brumate them seperately then introduce them for about 6 hours at a time.Otherwise they remain seperate (female is with a younger female I won't breed till next year)until a few weeks after the eggs are laid and she has recovered. The females are in a cage 4'w x 2'd.The male 30"w x 18"d. C.B. kept on bird seed(I find sand way too dusty)Male snout to vent 7" female 6"-thanks

yes female will lay infertile eggs, and after brumation just leave the female with him for as long as a few months or untill she gets gravid. 6 hours jsut ins't enough for them to get to know eachother, lol, just leave her in the cage and only pull her out if they are too agressive towards eachother. I keep my males and female together all year without any problems. Maybe you should try houseing the the male with the big female and put the small female in the little cage until she is big enough to be housed with the male. Put one thing i am sure about is you have to leave the female with the male a lot longer than 6 hour intervals. They might breed that fast, but i am sure you will have a lot mor sucess in breeding if you leave the female with the male for 1-3 months after brumation. I sucessfuly incubated my eggs in vermiculite at 92-96 degrees F Usually it was at 92-93 but at the end of incubation i raised the temps a little. Good luck.
