Need breeding advice. Do I leave my corns alone to breed or supervise?

Jonah Feb 22, 2004 08:25 PM

My 02 male and female will both be first time breeders this year. FYI they are both about 300g and over 3 feet long. I'm just not sure if it is safe to leave them alone. If I did leave them alone, how long do I leave them alone, assuming I don't witness the copulation? Also should I put them in his cage, her cage or a neutral cage?

Thanks in advance

Put him in her cage.Leave him there for 30 days. You can help by putting on some Barry White and let them go at it...Paul

I usually leave them together for a night or maybe two if they seem to be getting along okay. I also put him in her cage, for one, her's is bigger, but also because in nature, it's the male that goes looking for love, while the females just sit and smell "pretty?". lol

BTW (Ruby was just GIVEN a 55 gallon tank! She's ganna think it's a mansion after spending almost two years in a 20long)

If the two snakes are ready to go, it shouldn't take long at all for them to start breeding. I usually put mine together when I start feeding and by the time I am done (approx 1 hour) they are usually breeding if they are going to.

If they breed I give the male two days off and then do the same.

If by the end of the hour there is no intrest I remove the female from the males cage and put her back in his cage in two days. I

f they still seems to be intrest after the hour I will leave her in the cage for a couple of hours. Leaving them together overnight will probably not hurt them, but I have seen alot of stuff happen over my years of breeding.
