Has anyone seen "Reptile Auction" - I don't get it?

Hi, I have been checking out this website for a while now and I don't understand why people are buying boas at this auction. They are spending more money than just going to a breeder or a pet shop. I know people say same reason people go to ebay, but, you go to ebay to look for deals, not to spend more money than you have to. There are no deals at this reptile auction. It's the same price for these boas that you can find in the classifieds on Kingsnake. Maybe people do these auctions just to say "I was the winner." And to be competititve. Or maybe this is just a way for breeders to get their product out?

personally i go to ebay to find stuff i cant elsewhere.... the rarity and competition by others will determine the price.
if an out of print CD is worth 75 bucks to me, then so be it.

i DO NOT like, the reptile auction site thats getting attention right now,... its a magnet for bad buisness.... the idea is great though. several times ive missed on an animal i would have wanted... a PARTICULAR animal that cant just be replaced by any breeder.... and ive wished briefley,... that i couldve bid on it. sometimes you miss the real smokers cause youre at work, or out for the weekend, and you missed your shot. thats how it goes.

bidding in general isnt a bad idea at all, its all about the implimentation.
