Transluecent Bearded Dragons: Your opinions.

HalosExotics Feb 22, 2004 09:48 PM

I have seen many of the transluecent dragons posted and many of Paul Morlock's pictures of his animals and his views of the traits. I know that Paul's animals are healthy going by the pictures, so this is nothing against him or the one owned by Sundail Reptile, or those owned by Sandfire Dragon Ranch.

The morph seems to be very popular and profitable, however I have spoken with an owner of two of them and based on his animals and a few others I have contacted, this does not seem to be much of worth-while trait to me.

It is a beautiful trait, don't get me wrong, but some of the animals I have seen don't seem to be as "healthy" as others. Not showing the same intrest in food as other dragons, not being as active, or not showing the same spunk of a normal dragon. They seem to do very well for the first few months, then go down hill to where they don't look like they will live, then seem fine again. One of these people I contacted lost their animal.
However Paul Morlocks animals seem very hardy, healthy and impressivley cared for. By the way Paul if you are reading this I would really enjoy learning about the transleucent you have in your care.

I am not sure what the morph does to enhance color of another morph. I can understand the value if one where bred to a clear-nailed hypomelanistic and the traits combined, but the dark abscence of white and other lighter pigments in them doesn't seem to appealing to me. What are your opinions on this trait?

I am not at all saying this is not a good thing to breed, I am just wondering what you all think and thought this would be a fun topic to discuss as whole of hobbyists.
