Ensatina care

jdlyk Feb 22, 2004 09:56 PM

Hi everyone. I was wondering if any of you kept ensatinas. I found some recently and was wondering what their care requirements were. They are beautiful. I don't understand why there are so few caresheets for them. Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

Does anybody keep them?? I would appreciate some feedback if any of you could find the time.

I don't keep this genus, but check on Caudata.org....they have caresheets on almost all domesticated species, and folks on the forums can answer questions that aren't covered by the caresheet.

I keep several of the subspecies. I maintain them in a bark substrate with cover. Don't keep the substarte too damp though, or they'll develope a skin necrosis. I feed them crickets, which I dust once a month. I give the larger ones wax worms occassionally.
