feeding adult beetles to leos?

the-mikester Feb 22, 2004 09:57 PM

i quickly read some stuff before i came and asked. so we cant feed them mealworm beetles because they cause impaction? is there anyone here who feeds their geckos beetles? is it ok to feed them beetles every once in a while? what if you feed them freshly molted beetles, would that still be a problem?

I don't think leos like them. I have on occassion had one pupate in the enclosure, but I have never seen a leo go for a mealworm beetle. I hear they produce a nasty taste, and trying to fed them is not a good idea because leos may then associate that taste with mealworms or something
