BRN VS. Black Tree

Jed Feb 09, 2003 06:07 PM

I am contemplating getting a trio of eather black rough neck or black tree monitors. I have never kept eather. I love them both. I dont care about temperment, I just want somthing that mabye I can breed one of these days, and enjoy watching them being...a monitor. Which one is easier to breed? Can you tell me a little bit about each one? I know that BRN's are very secrative in the wild, but is it the same in captivity? How big of a cage do I need for eather one? I have not read any care sheets yet...I'm going there next, so please not critisism. I just want to know your personal OPPINION on each species. Any imput would be great. If you would like to email me feel free! monitors4you@hotmail.com
Thanks, Jed Hassfeld

BRN are really afraid of humans there shy creatures who need a large enclosure and lots of hiding, the trees are harder too breed both can be kept in groups although you must pay attention too them escpially when there are 2 or more males. I would go for BRN´s, the tree´s are more challeging,

read some care sheets, maybe visit some and then decide for your self

take care
