2 snakes 2 mice 1 cage

petrafied Feb 23, 2004 03:38 AM

I really could use a suggestion and or advice about feeding a pair of snakes. If I have a pair of Pythons that live in the same cage how would I feed them. I have heard that it's not a good idea to feed them in the same enclosure. Then I also have read that after the snake eats you are not to pick them up or handle them for a few days because it will usaully make them throw up. I dont really want to buy a second set-up just to feed them. I thought I could split the tank with a board but that would throw off habitat and stuff. If you could help me out it would be awesome.
Thanks

I take my corns and milk out of there cages and put them in a container to feed. Sometimes I can just set them on my dresser and they will eat.I feed F/T. If you just gentally set them back into their tanks you shouldn't have a problem with them regurging. I have never had a problem doing it this way. The container I have is a 5 gal tank, with newspaper and lid. That's it. When they were little I used their little container they came home in.
With my JCP I feed her in her tank, since she is the only one. I used to feed her in the 5 gal tank but she tries to bite when I go to place her back into her tank.
By the way...it's not a good idea to house 2 snakes together at all except when breeding.
Just my thoughts on the matter.......

You can buy some small rubbermaid boxes for just a couple of bucks to feed in. Handling the snake after it eats just to put it back in its cage shouldnt be a problem. You just dont want to handle them too much and stress them out. EP
