Terrestrial frog edcation

triturus Feb 23, 2004 08:43 AM

I am preparing a standard 20 gallon aquarium to use as a display item in a science lab I've pepared for some students (high school level). I am trying to educate them about creating vivariums and I wanted a small terrestrial frog species to place in the tank. The tank has a substrate of pea gravel covered by 2.5 inches of a potting soil (organic) and peat moss. I wanted a small terrestrial frog species to place in the vivarium. Any suggstions? The vivarium is planted with pothos and a small spider plant.

Do you mind toads, because almost all frogs are waterfrogs, and if they arent, they are usually tree frogs, many of which are expensive. Pea-gravel might not work so well either, for, if ingested the frog/toad will probably die unless a vet is in the picture. The best frogs for what you are describing are poison arrow/dart frogs!!!
