Albino Labyrinth Burmese. Gravid.

BrianSmith Feb 23, 2004 11:14 AM

This is "Butter". She is a 1 1/2 year old, 11 foot female albino labyrinth burmese. Her ovulation was/is huge (for her size and age) and I am hoping for a good sized clutch out of her (40-45). It first appeared about two weeks ago and has moved down a lot but is still very large. She was bred with a full albino labyrinth male so the clutch will be 100% albino labyrinth.

As you can see (even though the albinos are very hard to photograph and I have to shield the flash) she is very yellow and orange on top. This picture does not do her justice, but I personally still prefer the albino laby's with more white in their top pattern (like that guy's laby that some pics were posted of a few weeks ago). Some people prefer more color like this.

This is "Oleo". She is a little smaller than Butter but weighs more. She has a very boxy frame which I like a lot. She has been breeding for the last week with a male albino labyrinth and is likely gravid but has yet to show a discernible ovulation of course. (These don't begin to show for a few weeks). As with all the albinos this picture does not do her colors justice. She has a LOT of beautiful pastel yellows and creams down her neck and back. I am looking forward to holding back 10 of her best looking baby females. Boxy build and beautiful colors,.. can't beat it. She too is only 1 1/2 years old.

Not bad for only being a year and a half old! Good luck with producing babies.

In the 80's I used to bring my females up to 12 and 13 feet in their first year and breed them early. But nowadays I don't push them so hard. I am a lot more mindful of their overall health and well being.
