First post-brumation poop (Oh my!)

lkt Feb 23, 2004 11:50 AM

Other than a daily soak, is there anything I can do in the future to reduce the time it takes for her to get things moving?

She's been eating great (eating way more salad than ever before, thankfully), but it took her a week after getting up to do her first one, and it was almost enough to clog the toilet.

Poor kid...I felt like she needed a coach to tell her to breath.

It looked like the urates remaining in her system prior to brumation had formed a dried plug. I didn't really withhold food purposely, but she lost her appetite and I kept her up for a couple days to make sure she cleared out her system before she started brumating.

Mine just made hers to, I don't think a cat could have held that in for that long. Luckily I was nearby and saw here making her pooping face, so I ran, grabbed a deli cup, caught it that (no cleaning yah!!), put a cover on it, threw her on the scale, and then off to the vet. They found two coccida eggs. I'm guessing that's pretty low, and I'm going to try to get rid of them on my own with orange juice and parazap.
