a nice little story about our wildlife center

Carmichael Feb 23, 2004 01:33 PM

no, this isn't exactly an indigo related post but many folks ask me "what is it that you do as a herpetologist?"...this article does a nice job explaining it (it doesn't mention my current research with eastern massasaugas). This facility is a dream come true and will hopefully inspire others out there wanting to pursue their dreams.

Great story. Sounds to me like you've got what a lot of us would consider a dream job. Too Cool.

Yes, this is a dream job but I call it an "answer to prayer job" because that is the ONLY way I could actually pull this off....and it has been the best experience in my life and one that has opened up so many doors for me in the herpetological field; but it didn't come without a price (many years of 80 hours a week, not seeing my family, and on and on....but worth all of the pain and I have a very supportive family that plays an active role in my wildlife center).

Come on down anytime....just give me some advance notice so I can make sure I put a kingsnake on display (of course, it will be underneath the indigo's exhibit

You won't be disappointed!.....but I'll make it your way one of these days; look forward to having you show me a few good herpin spots.

I think I told you this...but I've often dreamed of running a place like you have. My wife recently did a business plan to create a similar organization for her masters thesis.

We both just got certified in wildlife re-hab (just level 1) in Ohio...but it really got the wheels are turning even more.

I can't wait til we get to visit...

Dean
