Batrochoseps question

Nathan619 Feb 23, 2004 03:17 PM

Can anyone tell me what subspecies this is. More pics available. I found 11 individuals in the same location, some had shorter fattened tails like this and some had longer much thinner ones. Most were this grayish color with some mottling and a few were nearly black. Found between Poway and Ramona, CA. Does anyone have maps or other information on the subspecies distribution? Also does anyone have there field notes from Aneides lugubris encounters? Specifically type of trees found in, aprox. how high in trees, type of habitat, temp, etc. Sorry to keep bugging, I'm still relatively new to the area.
Thanks,
Nathan

Its general appearance and location in San Diego County suggest that it is B. major (Garden Slender Salamander).
