Hello,
Has anyone had a gecko that continually laid 1 fertile and 1 unfertile egg? I don't get it four clutches in a row now. I keep a dish of calcium in with her. Thanks for any suggestions.

Perhaps only one of her ovaries are producing viable folicles.

I saw an ad for a few female geckos this morning and they said that they were ready to breed, that the girls had visible folicles. I thought that was odd because it's internal...how do you "see" this??
When a female matures, follicles begin developing in the ovaries. Each follicle is composed of a tiny egg and a sac filled with yolk. After fertilization, the follicles then detach and move into the oviducts where the egg develops. It can take a trained eye to see them, but the egg folicles can be seen through a female's abdomen. They are round, whitish, about 1/4" or less in diameter, and are surrounded by a red/pink corona.

Thank you!! Now I want to go look at all my girls! LOL! To give me something to go from, how far from the vent are the folicles?
Actually, they are up in the abdomen.. anywhere from just below their ribcage to just above their pelvis. Usually, they are not right next to each other on either side, and many times one is more visible than the other.

LOL! I picked my largest and most passive gecko, knowing I could turn her upside down if I wanted to and guess what? The only thing I see are larger white patches, about the size of lima beans. Guess who's going to lay next?? LOL!! I'll have to try another gecko!
