Just use a regular box and attach a couple heat packs inside then ship fed ex overnight.

DON'T SHIP USPS. Those guys are horrible 'nuff said. I almost always ship UPS overnight and have never had a problem. I have heard of individual substations that are reptile prejudiced refusing to accept packages. If that's the case find another one or just write "perishable" on the box instead of "live harmless lizard" or just don't tell them what's in the box. I've never had to do it myself but I've recieved packages that way because of those reasons. I did have one delivery lady that had my route once that would just knock on the door, open it, slide whatever box in, turn around and run. Didn't even wait for me to say coming...

use airborne express, i use them all the time and they will knowingly take reptiles, plus they go the extra mile to help in anyway possable, i HAVE never had good experiences with any other shipping company, just my personal oppinion, and experience.

Call the FedEx 1-800-gofedex number and they will give you a station that accepts live animals. It is probably the just the station you went to. I just shipped one of my BTS by FedEx priority express and had a very good experience. There have been problems with all shipping companies, but I have heard many more problems with USPS than anyone else. Just make sure you pack him well.

To ship live harmless reptiles through the common carriers you need to have a letter of exception as this is against their standard policy. USPS is a nightmare as their overnight service is in reality two day. Also you need to mark your shipments with with the species and number of animals to be compliant with the Lacey Act.

With that said, there are a lot of people that ship through the common carriers without letting them know what's in the box or hoping that the shipment will "slide" through. Personally I'd rather not sit on pins and needles hoping that the animal gets lucky. Just my $.02.

If you live next a reptile shop try to ask them if you can pay them to have it shipped out. I live right next to ben siegel reptiles and when I need something shipped I just ask stacy (ben's wife) and she says no problem and I just pay her the $45.00 for the shipping materials and to have it overnighted. The reason you recieve reptiles through UPS and FedEx is because reptile stores have prior arrangements with these companys. That is the only way they ship reptiles.
