Is a 30qt rubber maid tub 24x13x6 big enough for adult gophers around 4-5ft.And also is it better to run the heat tape under or behind the tub.And is water kept in at all times.

I keep mine in a 40 gallon breeder tank with cyprus mulch. A 16 inch clay plant saucer is used for a hide box. See the Pro Exotics website for a video on how to break the doorway. I put in the largest dog dish for water I could find and change the water every day or every other day. Have you seen yours drink out of the dish. It's a neat sight. I have a wide 11 inch heat tape on a thermostat. Since the tank is in the basement and in the summer the basement is colder I added a red light bulb for additional heat. This seems to work well for me. At some point I might try a larger tank or build something. Hope this helps.

Mike
