9 Eggs from WC female

sf Feb 23, 2004 08:40 PM

I came home today to find one of my imported female balls coiled quietly around anxiously anticipated eggs. (Thanks to the guys at Quality First Pets down here in Florida, I bought 2 gravid females from them). Once I was able to get her off the eggs, I moved all nine to the incubator. Full of eggs, she weighed about 1750 grams. The other female is a little smaller, about 1460 g gravid. Hopefully they will prove to be fertile!

Thanks,
Scott

Wow, that's an incredible number of eggs for such a small girl! Figuring the clutch at 1/3 her pre-egg lay weight I'm figuring 65 gram eggs. This would be an excellent line to breed into really big balls to work toward the big ball that lays 20 egg clutches of small eggs.

Yeah, you are right - that would be a great idea, hopefully the eggs will be fertile. The other female, 1460 grams, feels like she only has 4 eggs in her. I really didn't expect much more than this from the bigger girl, I was shocked when I saw the mound of eggs she had produced. Now I can move ahead with getting the female who layed checked, treated and hopefully get eating.

Thanks,
Scott
