ive read a couple diff care sheets a couple a few said malis aretaritorial, adn 2 males cant b housed togeather, others said theyre highly social adn it is safe. which is it? also in your opinions, cause i dont want every one arguing here, what do you think is the best substrait, or at least what you all use?

nice mali, is he/she captive bred?

anywaz, yes, if you put 2 males together they will fight. most of the time males and females will get along without breeding. you would have to cool them in order for them to possibly breed...so i would just say get some females to go with your male. don't get another male.

as far as substrate...this should be interesting. anywaz, i use a dirt mix of sand/vermiculite/potting soil, slightly moist so he can burrow down into it. i have 6 inches of it in there now until i can finish his new cage...which will have 18 inches of the dirt mix for him to burrow in.

other substrates that i've used with no problems have been; millet seed, playsand (sifted), desert sand (not calcium), reptile cage carpet, butcher paper (craft paper), newspaper, paper towels, and i think thats all i've tried that i was relatively happy with. hope this helps.
