henkeli egg

bsmith251 Feb 23, 2004 11:47 PM

Hello everyone...
I just got a good egg out my CB henkeli, she laid another (in the background), but as you can see it is not good... I've also got some more coming from another pair in a couple weeks (I hope)...

I was just wondering what you guys were using to incubate your eggs, I have the set-up going, I just need a way to maintain a constant 70-73 degrees... Any ideas?... I have them in a room that averages about 71.4, but I'm afraid the temps will fluctuate too much, especially when the season changes... Is there something I can do to buffer the temp?... I live in an old house with a lot of windows and a lot drafts... I really don't even have a small closet to close off, otherwise I would just buy a cheap thermastat controlled heater... My main herp room is too hot!... Help!

Thanks,

-----
Ben

i incubate my stanic sggs in 5 and a half gallon fully planted vivarium. i have the eggs covered by either a humidity gauge or a jar lid. i have it so that the eggs are near the sides of the tank and the lid is sidways over the eggs. i also is a flourecent light on the tank so that there is a little heat but not too much. this has worked out pretty good for me at least as i just had another baby hatch a couple of days ago. i hope this helps and good luck.

How cool is that ! Looks great Ben, hope it does well and we get to see who ever lives in it soon,

As far as temps, why not just invest in a hova bator incubator
have them on ebay alot.

Good little thing to have to acheive the right temps.

I tried the same thing your doing, last season with my female collareds last clutch, in a room within several degrees, over or right on target.

But one night it got very cold, near the end of incubation, and I lost all of them. Such a shame all perfectly formed, but died

Not worth it ! Good luck with your egg and eggs to come

Ben,

Did you get my e-mail yesterday? I assumed I would have heard back by now if you had.

I think I forgot to mention the Hovobators. Ironically I got rid of one just before I left Nebraska this summer. I gave it to Ray.

Really not all that impressed with them. Almost always best to replace the thermostat so it seems better to build one from scratch.

Chris,
I didn't receive your e-mail... imagine that!... >

Well that's frustrating. I e-mailed you through your profile just how I reached you the last time, or last two times, I can't remember.

It may come down to me changing my e-mail address... I'll have to go through my e-mail filters and see if there is anything else I can do...

Ben,

I suppose it's worth a shot. Maybe set up an e-mail address and Yahoo or Lycos and I'll start e-mailing you from all of my accounts to see what works.

Even if you don't end up switching to it you'll have a ton of free storage space. Yahoo and Lycos both have twice the free storage of hotmail. Between my lycos, yahoo, and hotmail accounts I have 10 free MB of storage. And since it's the same monikker on all three they're easy to remember.

I think we can rule out computers, firewalls etc. simply because we have both e-mail each other from at least a few different computers and have always had this problem. At least as far as I can remember.

Oh, and I just noticed a messgae from Tracy's phone. I have been able to charge my phone the last couple of days and currently have it turned back on.
