Baby Veiled Chameleon HELP!!!!!!

veiledcham Feb 24, 2004 12:32 AM

my baby veiled is about 3 weeks old and he has only ate 3 crickets in 2 days. I put some in a bowl for him to eat but he won't eat them he just stands there, then I put some in the cage and he still doesn't eat them. What should I do???

If you just got him...give him some time to settle in...

If he's eaten a few crickets I wouldn't worry too much...and a bowl won't do anything for you...you need a cup or maybe a shot glass if you are feeding pinheads or 1/4 size...I don't know but don't stress him out...;et him settle down then place some crickets in a shot glass and let him get them himself...you may have to pinch off the back legs to prevent them from jumping out.

Read the baby care article in the husbandry section of www.adcha,.com. The lack of appetite is merely a symptom. You've got bigger problems. You may be overheating him, over supplementing him, dehydrating him, etc., etc. A newbie has no business buying a 3 week old cham. The guy who sold him to you deserves a thrashing. (That's a "metaphorical thrashing". I'm not advocating physical violence!)
