Attaching "branches" and such in enclosure

trinacliff Jun 09, 2003 07:47 PM

We bought one of the cages from Habitat Designs (the one on the first page), but I need to know the best way to attach all the goodies on the inside.

http://www.habitatdesigns.tv/

First off, are these good cages? Saw them recommended on a website before I found this board, so we decided to go with that...24x24x48.

Secondly, I just bought all kinds of vines, fake foilage and stuff, but I don't know the best way to attach it all. Any suggestions?

Lastly, the bottom is made of this white slick stuff...they call it PVC (but not like the pipes)...what am I supposed to put on the bottom?

Sorry if these questions have been asked...tried to look through, but couldn't seem to find the answers.

THANKS!
Kristen

Hi- I have cages just like the one you have, but bought them from a different place much cheaper (EBay). I use paper towels on the bottom, and small black zip ties to attach the bio vines to the screen. Hope this helps!

Just kidding! It seems I don't realize Ebay has those certain things I'm looking for until AFTER I have already paid twice as much for it somewhere else! EEEEEK!

Thanks for the input.

Oh, do the ties go through those tiny little holes??? Don't think I've ever seen any that small.

Kristen-

I paid $99 each shipped (brand new). I use very small 4" black UV resistant zip ties yes they will fit through the screen. Others use small wire, but wire will rust. Others use fishing line, and so on, but I find zipties to work best for me.
Hope this helps!

Zip ties are great. Make sure you dont buy the really cheap ones that they sell at the dollar store. I tested them and chances are they will break under small ammount of pressure. The good ones are a bit more expensive but worth it.

ALso, when you cut the useless part, make sure to do it perfectly so that your cham doesnt cut himself on it. I hope this made sense.

I use fishing line. It's nearly invisible and you can buy really high test line that is small enough to fit through the screen easily.
