Prehinstle Tail

How many of you chuckers have ever seen young chucks crawling through plants or bushes to feed?? I have not been able to get a good picture but they are commonly seen here in Virginia Pepperweed hanging on by using one rear leg while their tail is wrapped around a branch for balance. They will be stretching their body while "reaching" with the front legs ( some of this reaching may be to grab something while other times it seems to also be for balance & to aide in stretching while giving a "swimming look). Just this evening I saw one in Pepperweed hanging upside down using its tail & back legs to keep from falling.

I reckon I better post something really cool like this "monkey chuck" before John E does!!

I have a whole slide show I want to show everyone, but I can't figure out how to upload it on the forum. He also has a tongue that he shoots out and knocks off flower buds from up to 6" away. (Know how I measured that?) Anyway, Just blowing some smoke up the wazoo...as usual. Thanks for sending all those pics. I need to take some pics of the common crap weeds around here, to see if you recognize any of it.

John

PS...that baby yarrow is really cool! so tiny. Probably makes a nice Blue Spiney snack.

Answer is ------- Twice????? You do need to get some Pepperweed along with a few other chuck friendly plants in the pen---- the ragweed is not easy to sell to a concerned spouse -- I finally had to get us some Allegra to counter the lizard pen in the fall.

You should see my chucks when they race wheelbarrows full of clover down the road here------- it should make the 6:00 news next time they do that!!

Clover, eh...does that include the greens, or mainly the white/pink tipped flowers. We have lots of that in the yard. We also have some weed contaminant called "creeping charlie."...I have no clue what the scientific name is.

Thanks guys.
