Update on Puff, the coccidic dragon

aseret Feb 24, 2004 02:34 PM

Just an update. I changed Puff's food and made it into a beardie pellet/babyfood mush mix. He seems to really like it. He hasnt started to really show interest in eating on his own yet, but I did manage to toss a worm into his mouth while it was open. The past couple of days when I had done it, he would spit them right back out. But he did eat this one. He is also sitting up more, and wandering around his cage a bit. I consider that slight progress.
I just wanted to thank everyone for their input and ideas. I learned so much more here about what to do for him than I did from his vet (will be changing vets....). Without all of you, I dont think he would be showing any progress. So, thanks. Will keep updating.
Teresa

I'm glad things are going alittle better. I have a new baby that's on his second round of meds for the coccidia. We did get him clear of the tapes and pins though. This little guy hasn't eaten since day one. I use pellets mushed up too. Anyway, I sympathize with you. Good luck!
Take care,
Karen

I am hoping Puff doesnt have to go through a second round, as the treatment is for six weeks. I wish you luck with your baby, too. It isnt easy, and it is scary to watch him even LOOK sick. We are hoping he makes it through this. As I hope does yours!! Thanks for the support!

This morning, Puff has found his water dish on his own, had a few sips. He was attacking his paper towel, so I figured he was hungry. Out of curiosity, I put some little crickets in. He has eaten a few...slowly, but he is still eating them. He is also VERY active today. Everyday brings something new!
