Dragons and leashes????

repzoo44 Feb 24, 2004 03:09 PM

What are your thoughts on using a leash on your dragons. Id like to get one so she can go for walks but I have heard that they arent safe. Do any of you use them and if so what kind is the best. Anyone with a bad experience please chime in as well. Thanks for responding. EP

yah it is safe to put your beardie in a leash, but just make sure it is on secure and is a good fit. You don't want it too tight and you don't want it too lose. It has to be a perfect fit.

I bought a medium-sized leash when my BD was only 5-mos. old, and had to coax him into it. After he got used to running around the house in it (and once spring finally came, since I had gotten him in September), I slowly introduced him to the outside, which he loved. As he got accustomed to wearing the leash, I had to buy a large-sized leash for him to grow into. Now we take him whenever we go driving, to the mall, petstore, etc..., and he loves the attention he gets.

I have never had a bad experience with leashes, and if anything, it has helped bring him closer to me. So long as you use the right sized leash (no leash until 5-to-6 mos., medium-sized leash until almost a year, then larger-and-larger sized leashes as needed), you shouldn't have any worries. It's also good for those sudden leaps into midair when your beardie's curiosity takes over his commonm sense!!!!!!

I think it's called Repti-leash. It is a black nylon cord with a black leather harness. It's been the only brand I've used, and he's always happy with it.
