newkid Feb 24, 2004 08:09 PM

Does a humid hide have to stay humid or moist 24/7 or one good misting a day sufficient?

I just mist it once a day, I use paper towels and it holds pretty good

You only need to mist it occasionally. Paper towels work fine normally but not if you are expecting eggs. Then you will need to keep a moist medium like vermiculite or Bed-A-Beast in it at all times.

They can be toxic and harbor deadly stuff, I would remove immediatly

I'm not sure that's such a good idea. Those things are chemically treated to stay soft and supple, resist bacteria and who knows what else. Does anyone know what they're actually made of? LOL!!

The sponge idea is novel and unique...but I think natural sea sponges are a safer way to go.
