Little Ole change o'plans...

Neo_TheOne Feb 24, 2004 11:35 PM

I decided to make the new cage my self. Haven't yet decided on lenth, but thinking about 5-6 feet, and 2 feet wide and tall. It has to be able to fit a 4x2x2 slightly heavy wooded enclosure with some rockwork in it. I thought to make a frame out of 2x2's or 2x4's. if i use 2x2's i would add another section in the middle. if I cover the interior with plywood, do you thing it will be sturdy? and help

2x2's would be fine with a single center support. w/ 2x4's you could omit the center support. I would use a center support on the floor to prevent sag as that is where all the weight is. your half lap joints at the top front and sides need to be flipped around, so the sides support the front top rail. Shorter spans give you more support. This in the long run is better than the stereo cab. Goodluck Clint

So, do I understand right that you're building a cage for a cage for a critter? Not sure that I understand the overall concept...

You're making a cage with twelve square feet of floor space for a cornsnake? Isn't that just a bit of overkill?!?

not in my opinion. I with i could give her more. considering my leo will move up to her old 4x2 cage, it is something i follow with all my pets.
