I wrote about 2 weeks ago stating that my 3 y/o beardie, Mr. Delores, was having trouble swallowing. I brought him to the vet the next day and he found a cricket stuck in his thoat and easily removed it. The vet had said there was no sign of trauma or any abnormalities and if it happens again he would have to do an endoscopy to better diagnose the problem. Today I was feeding him the usual medium sized crickets and I noticed he was unable to swallow it. However, this time he couldn't even get it down his throat at all. The cricket was in his mouth and it looked like he couldn't move it to the back of his throat so he could swallow it. So I'm bringing him to the vet first thing in the morning. I'm not sure if the problem is he can't move the food to the back of his throat w/ his tongue or if he has a stricture and can't get it down at all. Has anyone had any problems like this w/ their beardies and if so, what was the outcome? I'm extremly concerned, esp. since he wants to eat but can't swallow his food. He was able to eat and swallow over this past weekend. Any input &/or thoughts would be greatly appreciated. I'll keep you posted on Mr. Delores' progress.
