Dusting feeders for baby Geckos...

LeeSlikkers Feb 25, 2004 08:15 AM

I've been following the baby gecko/calcium supplement thread below with some interest...especially with the emphasis being on the juveniles. The main question I have is how do you "dust" the crickets? I mean my baby geckos are only 5 grams each and the crickets they are eating are VERY small...in fact I can hardly grab or hold them and typically feed my babies by shaking the toilet paper tube full of crickets into their enclosure until enough crickets fall out.

I do have a small dish of Miner-all (I) available but like previously mentioned, I am not sure they use it much...

So I am curious how others go about dusting their small feeders.

Thanks,

Lee

Instead of shaking the crickets into the tank, first shake them into a ziplock bag with a little bit of the suppliment. The close the bag up and shake.... Once the crickets are covered in the dust, pour them out into the tank for your geckos. Now i used to do this but i would get calcium everywhere so i would suggest that you pour them out over the container of miner-all that you have in the tank.....it just keeps things cleaner.

Personally i don't feed crickets anymore....i feed mealworms. They are easier to keep, breed and feed
Hope that helps,
Red
