Monty has gone on to a better place....

Bezzerra Feb 25, 2004 08:45 AM

The green anaconda my husband and I were given five months ago passed away last night. We tried our best to get him to eat (we even gave him mushed-up chicken in a syringe so he could get nutrients) but he just kept getting worse. The vet refused to see him because he was wild caught and now he's dead.

Monty was a great snake who loved to curl up on your stomach and was content to stay there for as long as you'd let him. He never showed aggression and will forever be one of my favorite snakes. I will miss him.

` It is hard to bear when you lose a pet.
` It is obvious from your posts for help, that you put everything you had into saving that little Anaconda.
` Sometimes, they're just going to die, and there is nothing you can do to prevent it.
` Nature has a way of culling out the weak ones. When you get involved in that process, it takes a toll on you.
` At least, your Anaconda got to know it was cared about, before it died.
` I would love to get my hands on that Vet.

So sorry to hear that.
How big was Montey? I cant believe the vet wouldnt see it.
I just took mine to the vet for teh first time last week at almost 6 1/2 ft long and she was wild caught and the vet hospital was a small one and just opened. I told them she was wild caught and that didnt bother them a bit. Wish I could get ahold of that Vet. Someone like that doesnt deserve to be a vet if thier not willing to care for ALL animals.
