Question about timers and misting systems

tommyturtle Feb 25, 2004 11:06 AM

I have a sunbeam cool air humidifier hooked up to a timer for my frog tanks. The problem I have is that the timers I can find only have 1/2 hour settings, which is too much misting. Does anyone know of a timer that you can program for, like, three minutes several times a day? Thanks.

You could use an intervel timer wired through a rehostat, in conjunction whith your current timer. This would allow you to cut the power after so many minnutes, but your original timer would still go through its 30 min cycle.

GE makes a timer that can be set for 15min intervels. This is what I use.

Or you could use a irrigation timer wired to a solenoid switch instead of a valvue. The switches are avaliable, typicly used to turn pumps on and off.

Here ya go! Save yourself some time and effort and splurge on one of these. You can also find them sometimes at wal-mart for about $18. I use them for just about EVERYTHING that is "frog"! Here's the link:

Digital timers are made that can be regulated in 1 minute intervals. Intermatic and GE are two brands I know of, but others also make them.

I bought my Intermatic DT-11 digital timer at Sears Hardware for about $16 (the lowest price I've seen ANYWHERE). It has 14 on/off settings per day. I only run my misting system off of it 2x per day for 1 minute each.

I just bought 2 Timex digital timers today for $16.95 each at Lowes. Only 140 on/off cycles per week, though. LOL

I got a digital timer from Wal Mart-14.95. Programmed it last night for three three minute intervals, and it seems to be working out great. Thanks for the info!
