HELP on incubation temps!!! >>

das408851 Feb 25, 2004 12:28 PM

i have 10 eggs in the incubator now at 84 degrees, some are 1 1/2 mounts old all the way down to a week old.

my question is can i drop the temps to 80 degreese now in my incubator with out hurting the eggs or the babys?

i would like to do this because i think 84 degreese is to hot for females & i would like to put my crested gecko egg container in the same incubator.

help me please,

duane

If you are using an hovabator there will be temperature fluctuations, so I agree that 84 degrees may be too hot for females. I don't recommend turning it all the way down to 80 degrees, in case the temperature drops below that. If you calibrate it to around 81-82, you will get about 98% female. The gender of a leopard gecko is set at around 2-3 weeks of development in the egg, so any you had going in there that are over 3-4 weeks old may be questionable in regard to sex.
