Does he have a basking area where he can warm up to 90-95
degrees? Without it the room temp is too cool and he will
not likely be hungry. In the wild, they only eat when the
days are warm enough to allow for digestion.

Hope this helps

Yes he has a basking spot at 97 degrees

Could it be any other thing

Some iguanas do not adjust to change very well and you've just made a big change. I've heard of iguanas being moved into big new beautiful enclosures and not eating, or eating well, for weeks. Give him time and let him adjust to the space and freedom. I'll bet he's eating normally in a little while.

You probably have already tried this, but if not try hand feeding him. Usually treats first like fruit or squash. Just an idea. good luck. Also like the other post said, it might take a little time for him to adjust.

I know from experience they can become addicted to this.

I did it and am still paying the price 10 months now
that Beanie hasn't eaten.

A little is OK, but just be careful.

You are right. I guess all iggys are different. There is no telling how his ig would react. Maybe if he fed him by hand near the food and if he ate then put the food back in the dish right in front of him. And show him that is where the food is. Just until he started eating out of the dish. I'm not sure. I hand feed my igs every morning and hold the plate up to them while they eat until they are done. Then I put the food dish in it's spot and they always go and eat out of it. I always like to know that they have eaten before I go and leave them.
Linda G... I hope Beanie starts eating for you soon.

Maybe I should be more careful, it would help anyone who petsits Bud in the future...

from a plate. It just helps with gaining trust. I guess
my situation is unique, as she would not eat and I had to
resort to syringe feeding.
