Gram Scale

kelndigger Feb 25, 2004 03:47 PM

I was wondering, what is a good gram scale to buy to weigh my Uro and Bearded Dragon. I would like to start keeping track of their weights by weighing them each week and would like to buy a decent scale that won't cost over $100 - thanks for the input!!

Kelly,
Doug is offering a pretty nice digital gram scale....cheap price as well. Less than what I paid for mine! Doug is Deerfernfarms.com

It depends on the size of your uro and how much you are willing to spend. Ra is still a little guy so I bought a postal scale (it is also used for weighing small amounts of food for diabetics). As long as you don't mind reading the scale in analog, you can purchase one at just about any housewares stores. It should run less than $15, and in some places, less than $10, but they are accurate (not as accurate as digital ones though).

Hope this helps

Thank you, gentlemen!! I greatly appreciate it. Didn't think about postal scales - I might have to double-check at the local Sam's Club and see if they have a digital one - after I check out Deerfarms!! Thank you.

Uro is only 6.5" long and I would estimate 45-50 grams?????? Very hard to say - the BD is 12-13" long (I think he is roughly 5 months old) and was just taken in for medication (Pinworms) and weighed 138 grams. (Second treatment for pinworms - last treatment -hopefully- Friday!!)

I got a nice digital one at a reptile show for about $60 (see Doug Dix's www.deerfernfarms.com website). Though you can probably go to a kitchen supply store and find one that works just as well for much less. It doesn't have to give you tenths of grams or anything - just 1g units.

I bought a digital scale that is meant for letters/mail. It is very acurate and can handle a large range of rates. For me 8-356 grams. It was $20 at Office Max. It works great you can get weights in grams or ounces.
