Power outage and eggs in incubator

StarGecko Feb 25, 2004 03:56 PM

We had a big storm here and the power was out here for about 5 hours. ehhs got down to around 70 degrees for awhile--I put a heat pack in there but don't think it helped much. Think they'll make it?

They should be fine. I'd be careful with the heat packs since they may change the temp a bit rapidly. I had one of the kids pull the plug last year and I didn't realize for 24 hrs. My incubator & geckos are housed in the garage but I had no problems though.
So has my future little boy hatched yet
Good luck

I won't have any hatching for at least a month or more, I just started getting eggs a couple of weeks ago

Hopefully these will be okay, there should be some beauties in this batch

Can't wait to see them. I'm just getting eggs now too.
Best of luck & happy hatchings.

. . . . seriously - they should be fine. I know some breeders who give them a normal temp drop at night. I'm sure it isn't constant temps in the wild.

Let's hope - but I think they should do just great.

No power outtages for us this year!!! woo hoo

He's been doing it that way for over 20 years. That's probably why - and because it works for him. But he incubates them on his racks in his herp room - a real herp thumb, this guy has. I don't think he even checks the temps, just goes by feel.

We have a LONG ways to go before we get like that!!! Experience is always good.

Sarah, they should be fine. I also had a major power failure this morning... fortunately my gecko room stayed nice and warm. Some storm, huh!!!
