egg laying box

has anyone tried creating a pre-fab den for BDs to lay in? In other words making something like a plaster cast den where the BD doesn't have to dig so much or work so hard, mostly just dig out the entrance and then crawl in.

Fewer cave ins, easy access for the female, easy to see when it has been used, easy to get the eggs out.
Any thoughts?

Sounds like a decent idea, are you going to try it? The only thing that I would say is will they use a "pre-dug" hole? I tried giving some of my girls starter holes and they filled them in and dug their own.

yea I know the feeling. last season I had them laying in their cages. I dumped about 25lbs of damp sand in for them and some would want to dig horizontally and get a cave in. I made them starter holes and it worked most of the time. thats why I thought the pre-fab might work

If you try it and it works let us know. The photo possibilities could be really cool with selective placement of the den.
