UPDATE on LA Senate Vote for HB1468

wildtropics Jun 09, 2003 09:40 PM

Many thanks to everyone taht has responded so far. The Senate has been deluged with letters and phone calls in opposition to HB1468. It "requires the state Wild life and Fisheries Dept. to permit all non-indegeous reptiles." It doesn't state how or why or how much...just do it. They would have carte-blanche to do what they want to. PLEASE continue to email to the senate websen@legis.state.la.us and put a senator's name in the subject line; Adley, Bajoie, Barham, Bean, Boisssiere, Cain, Chaissson, Cravins, Dardenne, Dean, Dupre, Ellington, Fields, Fontenot, Gautreaux, Hainkel, Heitmeir, Hines, Holden, Hollis, Hoyt, Irons, Johnson, Jones B., Jones C., Lambert, Lentini, Malone, Marionneaux, McPherson, Michot, Mount, Romero, Schedler, Smith, Tarver, Theunissen, Thomas and Ullo. They may also be called at 225-342-2040. The Representative who brought the bill up is Melinda B. Schwegmann 504-286-0717 and 225-342-7263. The vote will be taken one day this week, probably Wednesday. PLEASE KEEP THE HEAT ON!! Thank you again for your help. We would like to continue buying Reptiles from all of you out-of-state breeders.

I'm sending in emails everyday....I HOPE others are doing the same, especially others in the state of Louisiana....even out of state people should email, your state could be next.

I emailed and will email for any of the other places where these assinine laws are being tried. Go do something important like healthcare or habitat destruction.

I agree. But remember to that these are the same kind of people who will pass up a human bleeding on the side of the road and go a few more feet to rescue a mouse thats been hurt.Go figure.

Screw them, we're after the legislators. Beef up the buisiness angle:

"in these trying economic times I can't believe a legislator would want to put thousands of small buisiness owners of buisiness"

My sentiments exactly!!!!!Ill bet its the same thing that happens here in TN.The legislators really dont anything about the subject, they hear it all through the"lobbyist"that most of the time has"compensation"from interested parties trying to pass their personal agendas...........I better look out,ill have men in suits knocking on my door after making statements like that!!!!!!!!
