is it ok to mark beardie eggs with a line or "x" with a permenent marker to see what sides up? i wasn't quite sureif it wouls cause any problems or not. thanx n/

take them out of the egg laying box one at a time keeping the same orientation and put them in the vermiculate or perlite and into the incubator. Then dont touch!

I don't see why not? Breeders do it with Leo eggs and other lizard species without harming the eggs or the growing hatchling inside. Many people mark the top of the eggs so that if some are disturbed by "early hatchlings" they can set the eggs back in the proper position and wait out the incubation time.

I don't think it is needed for dragon eggs since they all tend to hatch within hours or days of eachother, but when you have multiple clutches from different lizards (such as leo's) incubating in the same area, then it would make sense to do so.

To mark the eggs, use non-toxic markers. Eggs are porous and you don't want any harmful chemicals seaping through the egg to deform or kill the developing baby inside.

I wouldn't recommend using permanent markers unless they specifically state they are non-toxic.
